if there is network installed it maybe worthwhile going back into the live system using the USB and re-check the network to see if its working.
if its not then maybe post a list of the network...
try getting into recovery mode and change the cursor back to default.

have you checked within settings/network the DNS settings.
change the DNS (IP4) settings from auto to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8
see if the connection works now. i've had it several...
when i installed 24.04 it created a swap.img of 8.6GB on one system but no swap file/img on a second system. i have no idea why.
on the 1st system i deleted the swap.img file and set up manually...
two computers both had 22.04.4 LTS installed both systems were encrypted on install with the Ubuntu default settings 22.04.4 for the partitioning and installer.

i'm not involved with the discussion but its good to see deployment of Ubuntu to work laptops.
i found that 24.04 had issues on my oldish Dell 13" latitude 3380 (i5 7200u .. 16GB ddr4 .....
please try in a terminal
sudo killall snap-store
then ..
sudo snap refresh
see if that refreshes and updates snaps for you ..

not sure if this is of help but it got my system up and running with a signed boot loader from Debian.
this was on MX Linux which is Debian based the same as Ubuntu

as a work around if you want a chrome type browser chromium snap is...
try restarting windows while holding the shift key. hold shift key and then click restart.
this will restart windows in recovery mode.
choose boot from other devises .. highlight the USB drive...
